Laxson's work combines the visual and the verbal poetically, sensitively and intellectually. Each page depicts a handwritten column of words or wordlike forms which shows progressive alteration from a primary word to a new one or an image. Examples include among others 1) young - void, 2) falls - mist, 3) ripe - shoe, 4) seed - image of a tree. This has been termed "transmorfation" by Ficus Strangulensis and has also been utilized by other poets, notably Crag Hill, jw curry, and Geof Huth. This book is a reprint of a unique artist book done by Caruso in 1977 in Firenze; its pages are uncut. It was published on the occasion of an exhibition by Caruso entitled, "Caso di Giorgione" held in Castelofranco Veneto, Treviso, Italy in 1996. The poem deals with the spiritual experience of the ceation of the first male in the form of an illustrated book. The poem is illustrated with semirealistic, figurative line drawings.
